The California Restaurant Association is sponsoring this informative and educational seminar on August 30 that will shine a spotlight on laws and best practices when it comes to employing transgender individuals. The restaurant community has always prided itself on being diverse and inclusive and this event will continue the conversation about ensuring that workplaces are free of discrimination.

Presenters will include Jot Condie, President and CEO of the California Restaurant Association, and Michaela Mendelsohn, an advocate for the transgender community who is also a successful member of the restaurant community as a franchisee of multiple El Pollo Loco restaurants.

What: ‘The New Normal! Trans Inclusivity in the Workplace’

Where: The expo site (Los Angeles Convention Center), Room 511

When: 1 to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, August 30

Highlights of the seminar include:

The business case for inclusivity
How to create an inclusive work environment
HR laws and practices as highlighted in the Department of Fair Employment and Housing FAQ

Attendees will each receive electronic access to 15-minute manager training videos as well as to a pool of transgender job seekers. Employers will be reimbursed for 60 hours of training costs when they place an employee.
